It makes sound business sense to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)

  • Invite Litigation: You can be sued for damages relating to non-compliance, including for hurt feelings.
  • Miss out on revenue: There are over 8 million disabled people in the UK with a combined spending power of £50 billion.
  • Lose business to competitors: Losing market share will seriously threaten the sustainability of your business.
  • Get a bad reputation: They say that when someone has had a good service they tell, on average, 4 people. When they've had a bad service, they tell 16 people. You might even find an unfavourable story about your business appearing in your local press! You may have spent years (and a fortune) building a good business reputation.

Inclusive & Accessible.....

.....means being welcoming to all
From October 1st 2004 the DDA requires a service provider to:

  • Make reasonable adjustments to their premises where a disabled person finds it unreasonably difficult or impossible to make use of the service. This will include making alterations to remove barriers and features which prevent access to premises and services or providing alternative ways of accessing premises and services.

It is illegal to refuse to serve somebody on the grounds that they have a disability or to deliberately provide a poorer quality of service to a disabled person. This may mean, for example, taking longer to serve a disabled person than a non-disabled person. Service providers are expected to provide auxiliary aides and services so that disabled people can better access their services.

If you think your business could do better, here's how we can help. We provide:
